This is a Federated extended life filter that crosses to a Fl820s. It was used with federated synthetic blend 5w30 for 3,000 miles.

These filters are very well built. The media is hard to tear by hand and pleat spacing is always perfect. The can is thick and the adbv is the softest one I've ever felt. The downside is that even with fleet pricing they are $6.73.

This was in use for 3,000 miles with motorcraft 5w30 and also crosses to a Fl820s. The pleat spacing on these and hastings filters are never perfect. They always have a large gap or two in them. As I stated in another thread, even though this gap is present, I've never seen one tear. These list for $8.81 but on the Bladwin filter program I signed up for, they cost us $2.84 each. Paired with the $430.65 drum of Chevron Supreme 5w30 I bought, The average 6 qt oil change cost us $14.59.

The Federated looks good, as does the Baldwin....except for the lack of filter media - kind of surprised how little there seems to be...

Agrees. Its constructed about the same as a Napa Pro Select but with thicker media.

Federated looks good. Baldwin looks ok, kinda wide pleat spacing. Thank You for c&p

Maybe I missed it but what filters went back on? Thanks again:)

Switched over to Baldwin at work after we got on their filter program. It's roughly 60% off list price. So at least for now, Baldwin goes on everything.

Yes. They have a plain old Federated filter made by premium guard as well as the extended life line. Both are made in Chine but seem to be consistently
well made.

Im not familiar with the stp line. I haven't had one to cut open so I couldn't tell you. Do you know who makes it?

Those two filters are in fact the same filter... Federated Auto oil filter XL and STP XL... Same manufacturer.

Very well made filters. 99 percent efficiency at 20 microns.

Autozone and Advanced Auto Parts carries the STP XL here. Price is much better than Mobil-1 and Fram Ultra.
I'm going to try a couple XL 9688s for my HyunKias.

Pretty sure the Parts Plus XL filters are the same too, I'm pretty sure Premium Guard makes them for a bunch of different retailers, just slaps a different sticker on them. I have a few that came from RA here for in the PH7317/6607 size.

The 1st filter looks very good. The Baldwin looks okay, just because of the pleat spacing. But, Baldwin has always built a very good filter. My dad used them on all of his machines when he had his heavy equipment company.
Thanks for the C&P!

Thanks for the photos. The Fedreated one looks fantastic. Heck, even the Baldwin looks much better than a Motorcraft FL820s.
