It's perfectly fine, but I suggest that you shake it up before you pour it in the engine in case any additives settled out. Check out Project Farm's videos, he has a couple videos on this subject

How does oil compare with something like brake fluid which you're supposed to keep fresh since it loves absorbing moisture over time? Does it matter that it's sealed? Plastic is technically porous right?
BTW OP I think you're fine with 2 year old oil. I'm sure some member here have oil stashes that exceed 5 year old oil sitting.

Exxon Mobil says it should have a shelf life of five years. But people have used 20 year old oil here with no listed issues. Personally I think 7-10 yrs. is okay for sealed oil in a climate controlled storage. Blackstone did a a study once and found that oil from the 1960's still had additive in suspension, so IDK..

2 years old is no problem at all

If it's sealed, it's fine. As someone else stated, shake it up first before pouring. If it wasn't sealed, then it's still ok, but maybe it has some more water, but shouldn't be an issue as it'll burn out anyway.

I have used 10 year old, opened, half full oil stored in a garage without any care....maybe I'm doing it wrong...

I've consumed vacuum packed apple sauce 10 years expired and it was delicious! Two year old AFE will be just fine.

Me too. I stocked up on that magic green Castrol, stored in a barn, and just finished it up last year.

Yup. I've weeded my stock out to right at the 5 year mark. I started with some from 2012 when I bought them in October. No issues.
