What was the first synthetic oil you ever bought?

Mobil1 0W-40 European Formula for the turbocharged Saab my mother bought.

Sure was cool seeing Mom zooming about in that car. "It gets out of it's own way", she'd say.

FIRST? Ever ever ever ever?

Skelly Supreme Plus Synthetic, sometime in the late 70's

Back in the early 90's it was Castrol TXT 10W40. It was rated API SG/CD, CCMC European test sequences G4 / G5 (pre-dates ACEA), VW 500.00 / 505.00, Mercedes-Benz PD2, Porsche Approved (air & water cooled engines) and BMW Special Oils Approved.

It was a big step forward from GTX 20W50. The TXT 10W40 stayed cleaner looking for longer and didn't shear down and give bad gear changes in my shared sump motorcycle.

I used it until they stopped selling it.

Yeah it was the cheapest too by the way... $2.99 a qt vs $4+ a qt for anything else.

That would be back when it was 20w-20 only? How long did you run it?

Actually I believe Mobil 1 had a 5w20 way back then... Or at least by the late 70s for certain they did as tig1 ran that..
