Deos anyone here use it? I tried setting up an account this morning and it has been nothing but a nightmare. First, it had me setting up facial recognition on my phone as you have to have your phone secured in some manner. Then when I entered my debit card info it said I needed to contact my credit union to have the card verified before I could use it for Apple Pay. WTH? I've been using this card for years. It took my CU about 3 hours to verify my card, so then I attempted to send a pament and I get a message stating that my Apple Cash card has been locked and I needed to contact Apple Support. So I call them and they connect me with a finance specialist who tells me my account requires further verification and it will take up to 3 days to accomplish. This seems overly ridiculous to me, or is this the normal sequence of events when starting an Apple Pay account?

Linked to a debit card? To me that says no. Why not use a credit card, so as to buffer things?

I've toyed with setting it up Apple pay myself. I hear that times change... Although just recently I learned that a local restaurant gives a small discount if I pay in cash (another one won't deal with anything but cash), and there was someplace else that would give a small discount if I did cash too.

Well first off, Apple Pay and Apple Cash card are not the same thing, Apple Pay is a generic payment app for your phone that can utilize different methods including Apple Cash. if you attempted to use Apple Cash and there was no money on the card then it will be denied of course. But if you were using a bank debit card and you had money in your account then it should have worked.

Some cards can be added to Apple Pay with no further verification but some cannot. My personal debit card had no problem but by business card required a call to the bank first.

I like using Apple pay through the wallet on my phone as it is more secure than carrying a physical card. At least around here nobody asks to see the signature on the back of my debit cards when they are used as a credit card, so at least you have the extra layer of identity verification through your phone. It's weird how the card is "connected" to the app, the few times I've had to cancel my debit card the app knows immediately that the card is no longer valid. I've been on the phone with my bank to cancel the card and the moment they say it is cancelled my phone gives a notification that the card is invalid.

Yes, I use it because there is not a more secure form of payment.

Apple must verify information with the credit card or debit card administrator, because Apple Pay never uses or knows the number. Some banks are able to communicate very quickly with Apple and some aren't. There are times when it will take a few hours. What you're seeing is normal.

It’s not complicated at all. Apple is verifying your card so it can be added. As mentioned already, it’s a very secure way to pay.

I have used it for some time now. I have both debit and credit cards in my Wallet including the Apple credit card. I use Apple Pay or the physical Apple Card almost exclusively now.

I use it all the time and don't feel the need to carry physical cards anymore for the usual places I shop at, worst scenario is I pay cash if their machine is down.
Using physical cards can be sketchy as they scan them in your wallet as you wait in line, as Wayne said there is no more secure form of payment.

Since you're linking a debit card, there may be extra checks required. It may be inconvenient, but from the security point of view, you should be thankful.

Since this is a credit union it might take longer. With a large bank the process is very quick. Mine was good in about 30 minutes with my debit card.

Linking my debit card to Apple Pay takes awhile, but throwing a credit card on was instant.

I have only done my credit card and it was pretty quick.

Once you have it working it can save you if you lack a wallet at that moment as more and more places take Apple Pay.

Use it all the time, much safer than using the plastic.

I got my first iPhone XR for a present this year. (love it) but part of the reason is I am now in the Apple world with a Mac desktop at home. I love the integration between my iPhone and my desktop at home, seamless.

I added credit cards to the Apple Pay Wallet app and it took, literally seconds. I dont use a debit card for purchases, makes no sense to me when everything I buy in life, the credit card gives me 2 to 5% back in cash and zero concern about losing money as you may with a debit card linked to your bank!

Anyway, I loaded a few credit cards into Apple Pay, I like it, its so darn fast make a payment in the store.
Really cool, I have not applied to Apple for their credit card simply because my Citi Cashback card ALWAYS earns 2% cash back with no "catch" and my Discover gives me 5% back on whatever they are promoting for the quarter.

But the Apple Card isnt bad, as long as you make payments with your phone, if you use their regular card, it goes down to 1%
