You have to click the "follow thread" button on top of the page for that.

"In before the thread lock" adds nothing. The useless responses like that just add clutter to discussions. They are not beneficial to this forum at all.

Disagree.

What it adds is an observation that the forum member feels that the topic or discussion is dangerously close to an area that is outside of the allowable forum topics or decorum.
Additonially, it is an observation that another forum member could easily derail a reasonable topic in short order and result in a locked thread.

Thought of from a different perspective, it adds quite a bit actually. And it does so in very short order.

Looks like someone has control issues.

Just because you start a thread, doesn't mean it has to go the way you want it. People will post whatever they want and will reply in whatever manner they feel like it. Then the mods get to decide if the discussion has gone to far astray or not.

There area number of in the future movies where people are walking around doing only what the rules say and wearing the same uniform. Nobody is smiling. The opposite of that is a creative freedom of expression and speech society where people can let their thoughts out, right or wrong to others. This site is located in the second kind of society.

Not exactly. This site is private and moderated with forbidden topics clearly laid out in the rules. There is no total freedom of expression on this forum and by no means it mimics how a free society operates.

I'm thinking the #42 "Medium" I use has been superceded by the "Semi-permanent Blue". They made the bottle smaller and upped the price $0.50 ? Either way, a good deal, the genuine stuff always struck me as kinda pricey.

The other thing noticed on public sites like this is bullying, insisting people believe what they believe. What I said has nothing to do with the rules here. There is context in statements. The topic is saying "IBTL." IBTL is allowed. People are criticizing others for saying it, and bullying them to not say it, but it is allowed. You please go back and read the forum rules you agreed to when you signed up to use this site.

Ironically, I agree with you that 'IBTL' has value and adds to the discussion. Please read my prior post in this thread.

Additionally, my opinion is that no one is being bullied on this thread. I think that a spirited discussion is taking place. I think that you and I agree on the thread topic at hand, and others come from a different perspective than us.

In order to be bullied, it requires the one on the receiving end to acquiesce to the bully. I'm certainly not going to acquiesce to some schmucks on an internet bulletin board. I suggest you don't either. At the same time, I'm keeping it classy and not reducing myself to the level of anyone's personal slop. Again, I encourage you to do the same.

Good luck!!!

Man, don't you hate it when people quote huge picture posts?

Yup, picture add nothing to the discussion, hence I removed them for my multi-thread reply.

I disagree on this one: a "+1" will add legitimacy to some given post when the "+1"'er doesn't have anything more meaningful to say; which is often the case when someone makes a point poignantly. Asking a question and having a response "+1"'d severally will certainly put my mind at ease that the response inspiring the "+1"'s warranted some merit. I will often in real life say "I agree" when someone else makes a good point.

Also, some "in before the lock" posts will either be followed by something meaningful, which might form a substantial part of a conversation that will soon be closed to further comment.

Lastly, Some forums will auto-alert you when new posts appear in threads in which you've commented. Putting something - anything - in a message will, depending on the forum, allow you to be a more involved party to is.

Is your definition of "keeping it classy" calling other posters you disagree with "slop" and "schmucks"?

The name calling you do could be defined as bullying, Mr. "classy".

(above about a case for a Noco jumppack).

I see a ton of this on Amazon. It's hysterical and infuriating at the same time. I've always wondered why people bother responding.

My guess is when someone posts a question, Amazon forwards it to people who purchased this item in the past, asking if they can help answer. Somehow these people feel obligated to respond, even when they don't know the answer, so they respond with "sorry, I don't know" or something that essentially amounts to it. It's puzzling. Don't answer if you don't know. It's not complicated. I think Amazon should be more explicit stating "Only respond if you know the answer," but maybe Amazon feels that the response % would greatly diminish then. They prefer useless responses vs. no responses?
