Hengst filters are a European brand that doesn't see much use in the US outside of German car specialists and they are usually premium priced.

I was looking for filters for our Acura TSX today and saw this listed at a real bargain price. I take care of three vehicles which use this size and have friends with two others, so I ordered a case of 12 filters. Shipping was only $5.99 because I have a business address I can ship to (residential shipping is probably a few dollars more). $3.37 each delivered is an excellent deal IMO.

Does rock auto really discount shipping to a business address? Also, are these 6607 or 7317 equivalents? My filter stash is getting low.

eh, the Hengst cans are probably good quality, but not worth going out of your way to buy them in bulk crzy

The Fram PH7317 available at any Walmart is about the same price, and you don't have to buy 12 at a time. The OEM Honda A02 is essentially a PH7317.

Hengst is great for cartridge filters, and they are the OE supplier to many German cars and even some American cars. I would totally use them for a cartridge filter, a European car, and/or where Hengst is the OE supplier smile

The height is listed as 63mm, which I think corresponds to the shorty 6607 cry

Fram 6607 is 2.625 inches tall, which works out to 66 mm. So the Hengst is even shorter than the already tiny 6607's.

I think Rock Auto's system reaches into the various shipping company databases for the shipping cost. My experience has been that Fedex and UPS shipping is cheaper when I select my business address than my home address, but that US Post Office rates are the same no matter which address I use. As a business shipped I know that both companies charge me more to ship to a residential address than to a business address and that certain rural routes have an even bigger up charge. That makes sense if the price is tied to the average cost of providing the service. Obviously the cost of truck, driver, etc. is much lower when delivering many packages to a commercial area than it is running around the countryside.

If you have a business address available to you then put both in and try it out for yourself.

Aren't bypass settings different, when switching to a larger or smaller filter? Dont different bypass setting bring more sensitivities and upset setting with today's modern computerized engines?

If I run a different filter - one that's two inches longer and different product numbers, won't it tinker with my on-board Software and send me back to the dealer for more Software Updates ....or software reset? OR, is all this Software stuff only related to things like engine idle, air/gas mixtures......etc.

The HENGST H97W05 definitely seems like a longer 7317 replacement. where are you guys seeing that this thing is short like a 6607??

I saw it on Hengst's website, and the product catalogs of listings selling it smile

If you’re already buying something else, ACDelco has a $1.50 rebate per filter (limit 2). That might come out cheaper than Hengst.

I now have a bunch of H97W05 examples on hand and they are essentially the same size as a Fram 7317. Interestingly enough I have examples made in Germany, Poland and South Korea (1). They all look slightly different in detail, but have a common baseplate and the same outside can printing.

Hmmmm, probably not. I buy oil filters to use, not to cut. I know, I'm being selfish crazy.

Does the South Korean filter have a round P-gasket? I know this design is popular among Asian spin-on oil filters, seen widely in Korean and Japanese OEM filters.

I couldn't help it, I picked up 10 for my stash. Good deal for these. They seem very robust.
