Here's my third oil change, this one being the first sample after some pieces of my exhaust fell off and my EGR stopped working right around the 4,000mi mark according to the odometer.

Again, lower mileage sample but it's a bit of a hobby and I like trying out different and sampling different CK4 oils while the engine breaks in (previous change is here )

It might be better to have one thread, with ongoing results, pointing out what each oil was used in each current and historic UOA. For instance, someone happening upon this post would not know what previous oil was. Someone happening on your previous thread on the ESP UOA, would not know you followed up with another drain / change.

Appreciate you documenting all this, just trying to offer constructive comment....but I am NOT the BITOG gestapo. Heck, I should probably be banned myself for always yammering on.

Also, If you are trying to judge the oil, or your engine’s trending, being more consistent with type of oil used could be helpful (coming from a guy who has jumped around on oil’s quite a bit lately. ). Was there anything you did NOT like about the Delvac ESP from last time? FWIW, I don’t necessarily think you can interpret lower iron this time being because of different oil.

BTW, Thanks for bringing Delvac ESP to my attention; I didn’t know it existed.

Pretty typical results, which is good. Wear coming down as break-in settles.
At some point, if you are interested, you'll want to extend out your OFCIs to gain ROI. I believe Ram suggest 15k miles of "normal" and 7.5k for severe? (if my memory serves).

Also, I took away the other two threads. No need to post three threads all at the same time, when all three UOAs are on this sheet.
BTW - welcome

The act of preventative maintenance, in and of itself, is FAR MORE important than brand/grade/base choices among lubes and filters.
- under maintaining something is akin to abuse/neglect; that can kill equipment by shortening the lifespan
- over maintaining something has never been proven to be anything but a waste of time and money

Oh ok, thanks for cleaning up. I just figured people would want to see the different oil flavors in each thread. But I s'pose I can do it all on one thread.

Can no longer seem to edit the first post but since the other threads were deleted, FYI, the first analysis was factory fill (possibly a Valvoline 5W-40 synthetic). Second is Mobil Delvac ESP 5W-40 synthetic. Third is Mobil Delvac 1300 conventional. All in CK4.

To the person (in one of the previous threads) who said the Mobil Delvac ESP VOA I posted is different to the (slightly?) used sample in the sheet above, here's the response from Blackstone when I brought it to their attention:

"I would disagree. I think the two samples you mentioned (the VOA and the 3K mile one) do look pretty similar. In addition to the impact from carryover, there's also some slight variation caused by oil not being perfectly homogenous. A few elements are higher in the used oil, but the differences aren't very large, and that's pretty normal."

Interesting in the first UOA which was the factory fill of most likely Valvoline PBE 5w40, I see Barium being used for anti-wear as well it would appear. Z & P seem to be on par with the slightly lowered threshold of most CK-4 HDEO’s lately tested.

Good catch, I didn't even make the connection before you pointed it out. Thanks!

Thick Conventional shows better wear results than a Thinner Synthetic in UOA's. Food for thought? 🤔

Or just common break-in trends?
