My wife would love that! Just about as much as my mom loved the rototiller dad got her for mother's day one year. Good ad!

Another great bargain listed on here. Your asking $4400 for a used one while the asking price for a new 2020 model is $5699.

I'm sure that a buyer in California would be more than willing to drive all the way to North Carolina for a trailer....

The nearest one to me that I could find after a quick search was in Chico - 4 hours away for $6K. Not sure if that includes their fees.....

Any other useful comments?

I think his comment was intended to illustrate the price of a new one and to show that you were selling at a discount versus that price.
Totally reasonable and it added to the conversation.
You just chose to be offended by it.

Here in Utah, a dump trailer does not depreciate much at all. Maybe 10% off new price. New price is subject to taxes and dealer fees and people just can't get enough dump trailers or car hauler trailers here.

"Another great bargain listed on here."

Nope, not offended. Just responding to a sarcastic, disparaging comment with sarcasm

You stated the battery is a few years old and it has a new spare tire. So I'm guessing the 4 tires might be half worn since you didn't mention that.
If I was a business owner and could do a IRS 179 deduction, why on earth would I buy that used? Used vs new savings aren't there and the
fact that the expensive part like the hydraulic pump is years old and can make for a bad day is one of meany reasons why this trailer is Not a good deal at your asking price.

Brakes are upgraded and brand new. Tires are newer with very little wear. 30% off new price on something that has very little depreciation. Tell you what, I'll post what I sell it for.

WILD CARD question:
Does anybody think there are better and/or worst times of the year to sell something like this?

I never gave these rigs a thought in my life.
However, if a seller has replaced what sounds like fragile stuff (perishable bearings and brakes) and the hydraulics are good (they're kind of rugged, no?) I could see it as a "Pay & Drive Away" kind of transaction. The buyer needs one fast and answers your ad.

It's a fact sellers want more for their cars when they go to sell. Same for dump trailers?

The trailer is a very fair price. My brother's car hauler trailer was just stolen a few weeks ago. We've been looking online for a replacement, people are asking almost the same for a brand new one. Sometimes more.

I'm always amused at:

-Posters who post something for sale and then take umbrage at someone poking at the listing on a forum
-People who take the time to poke at other peoples listings.

Sometimes the two deserve each other.

I have no idea what the market for a dumptrailer is that area of California. Ill leave it at that.

I’ve had my eyes out for a decent 5x8 or 5x10 enclosed trailer for quiet a while now and everyone wants top dollar for them. Trailers do seem to hold their value very well.

Yes used trailers do list for quite a bit more than a reasonable person thinks they might be worth. I also find they don't sell. It seems the way to go is to buy new, then risk an abused trailer with a bent axle that has been cleaned up nice.

My co-worker had is lightly used 8x20 enclosed car hauler for sale at $5,000 for six months. I bought it months later for $3,000- and felt I overpaid at 3k, but I knew he only used it a handful of times.

I also tried to sell my steel plated carhauler for $2900 (I paid $4200 new). I took it off the market after 30 days.

Lesson learned- people say used trailers hold their value- my observation is they rarely sell.... just check used trailers at auction on ebay that actually sell.... very few meet the reserve.
