Regarding two cycle air cooled power equipment ...

Some of the better specs I can find for two cycle lubes is the JASO FD and ISO L-EGD. Seems that this is designed for air cooled stuff and to help not only run clean, but actually clean up previous deposits.

It's common on some of the brand name products (Echo, Husky, etc; though I cannot find anything on Stihl's lube).

Just about the only source of that kind of lube from a non-OEM is the Mystic JT-4 Lawn and Garden.
https://www.mystiklubes.com/do/product/OUTDOOR_POWER/663091002

I'm looking to find competitive pricing options; does anyone know of any other aftermarket lubes that would also meet those specs?

The act of preventative maintenance, in and of itself, is FAR MORE important than brand/grade/base choices among lubes and filters.
- under maintaining something is akin to abuse/neglect; that can kill equipment by shortening the lifespan
- over maintaining something has never been proven to be anything but a waste of time and money

Menards was selling a Sears brand not too long ago so I bought a bottle out of curiosity and made up a mix and fired it up in my 20" Chainsaw. Good stuff. Don't know who blends it.

https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-prod...al-synthetic-2-stroke-oil/?code=ATPPK-EA

Usually not the cheapest stuff but can be mixed at higher ratios.

The only 2 stroke oil I use is torco gp-7. If your looking for more options visit a dirt bike store.

Same; I usually wait until I have enough for free shipping and with the preferred discount and the fact that you can mix at 100:1 makes it a good value.

VPracing 2stroke can be found at Walmart I run it over Sthil oil any day including first tank out of the box at the dealer brrought my own fuel in for a 261 pro saw also same mix in a Husky 576 from day one. It is the only oil I run now in every air cooled two stroke I own. Mix is blended with VPracing C9 race fuel 40:1 in everything

I've been afraid to run 100:1. I know people do. I was ding 40:1 but with the amsoil I have been running 50:1.

I have an expensive chainsaw, I just can't bring myself to try 100:1 in it.

that's a myth. been using twc3 for 30 years in my lawn biz with out a single failure oil related . I tried torco and the older stuff that specked 32/1 would run terrible on it. the very best 2 stroke oil was mobil1 2t. still have a few qts that I am saving for my stihl 4 mix engines that I don't run twc3 in

I love the VP Racing 2 stroke as well. The Stihl oil I got free with my chainsaw is only JASO FB, so it sits on my shelf for use in my snow blower.

I'm not a Royal Purple user for motor vehicle oil. I do use it for my 2 stroke engines due to the availability and price from Amazon. It has been a jackpot for me. Long term use with a Shenadowa and a Echo SRM2400 weedwacker. The Echo lasted me nearly 20 years of homeowner use but hard use at that. Three acres and a back yard with constant brush (not weeds) to take down.
