The first oil change is after fixing the heads. New valve guides on intake and exhaust side, and new exhaust valves. I did another oil change in 2018 (not logged) and again in 2019. There is a couple autocross events and drag race events. The car had a cold air intake and mufflers, not heavily modified. I am planning to do some track driving next year so switched to Redline 5w-30 for 2020. I think the flash point is a little low because of fuel and the engine oil not really getting too hot in December. All the coolers on this thing, doesn't really want to get above 120F with highway driving.

Oil is way too thin for the application, resulting in excessive wear. GM recommends 15W-50 for tracking a Vette, so I would think at least a 40-weight is called for here.

Silicon is very low, so wear is not dirt-related, it is viscosity-related.

Yeah a 40 weight for track use and hard driving.

Hopefully you had your heads done, if not.... you're in for a bad (and expensive) surprise.

Thanks for the comments! I am not interested in using a 15w-50. In my experience with my S2000, it creates excessive drag on the engine and has a much tougher start. Further it creates way more heat due to windage losses. I am not convinced anything more than a ACEA A3/B3 style 5w-30 is needed for hard driving and track days (non-competitive). Redline 5w-30 with it's high HTHS-to-KV100 ratio and stout additive system should be just fine.

M1 15W50 was probably just too much for a 4cyl engine.
