A properly made aluminum casting is just fine.... when it is made properly.

All of the main landing gear uplock control valves are (very well made and properly machined) aluminum castings on the Lockheed F-35.....
So are the gear door sequencing valves... and other various parts .................. jus' sayin'

Well yeah they have been using cast Al for years in many applications and they last. I thought it was a high pressure hydraulic unit, and for that
an Al casting is not a good idea. In castings especially it is so easy to get inclusions and porosity, I know it well I worked in manufacturing at one time.
