Nutmeg and cinnamon if you like

Probably the easiest thing to make fresh

Don't leave out the heavy whipping cream......

Whole milk reduces the need but you can always top it off if that's your preference

Should be tasty

I drink store bought nog with spiced rum (whatever's lying around

), with some fresh grated nutmeg on top. I too find it a bit too thick & rich so if the store has a "light" variety I'll get that, otherwise I'll just cut it with ~20% milk.

Right there with you. I also add nutmeg.

Tried the stuff when I was young.

Closest thing to that that is actually good tasting is 2% milk and heavy whipping cream

Ended up making this yesterday. All in all not bad. I suppose it tastes less 'perfumy' and more natural than most of the store bought stuff. I only used 1/3rd cup sugar instead of 1/2 as in the recipe, and it still turned out too sweet for my tastes. Will try less sugar next time.
