Can I put Lt245/75R/16 on a 3/4 ton needing 265 75 16 on same rims

I have a 2002 Ford F350 with factory 265 75 r16 rims and tires . I came across a set of Lt245/75R/16 Blizzacks off a Chevy 3/4 ton.

Seeing if I can mount the Lt245/75R/16 from the Chevy on my factory ford rims?
 
Yes but is it worth the bother? I mean are you going to run those year round or swap tires back and forth? I would sooner get a new set of rims from a junkyard then you're only swapping wheels every winter.

Load range as a lot to do with how much you load the vehicle. Only you can calculate that.

IIRC, from reading forums, the Chevy and Ford truck rims/wheels are not interchangeable in terms of bolt pattern.

I can be wrong, though, since I have never own a Ford.
 
Thanks for the replies. Yes, the tires are "E" load rated.

The 245s will be used just for the winter, I have an extra set of rims for the rest of the year.

The factory OEM Ford rims will stay with the vehicle, but instead of running 265 75 r16 tires, I want to run Lt245/75R/16.
 
without getting into any of the specifics, It should work.. check the tires recommended and acceptable wheel size to your wheels on tirerack or bridgestone's site.

6.5-8.0 is usuallythe acceptable wheel width for those and similar tires.

how old are these blizzaks? check their date code, are they LT or p-metric what model blizzak(there are about 30 models)

Yes, and no-the center pilot hole is smaller on a Chevy, so Chevy wheels won't go on a Ford-BUT Ford wheels work just fine on an 8-lug GM (the Sierra C3500 in my sig actually has 4 Ford wheels on it right now, & it's studded snow tires are also on Ford wheels). Dodge is even the same lug pattern, but the offset is different (on truck wheels), along with pilot hole size. All are 8 lug by 6.5".
 
If I have this right, your F-350 specifies 75/80 psi in your LT265/75R16 tires (front/rear). That means the LT245/75R16's have less load carrying capacity - by about 350# per tire.

This does not sound like a good idea.

Thanks for pointing this out. I was just looking for one season of snow tires, no hauling or towing.

Went to Discount Tire this morning to mount the tires. I was first in line. They quickly pulled the truck into a bay, unloaded the 245s. Came back a few minutes later with the same concern you identified- and refused to mount the tires.......
 
Some trims are spec'd to have LT 265 75 16 and some are spec'd 245 75 16. For example my E350 superduty 7.3 diesel van only asks for the 245.

So technically your 245/75/16 would be less capacity, but still over 3000lb a tire. Your curb weight plus payload has got to be no where near that.

Another option, 235 85 16 size, will give great winter performance but similar weight carrying as the 245 75.
