Need an excuse for skipping Thanksgiving gathering tomorrow

In my part of the US.. the best excuse is going Hunting.

My uncles would go Hunting on Thanksgiving Day and roll in at just the right time or not at all.

There were no ill feelings, actually their plates were better than ours..and nothing but good thoughts and feelings were had for them.

I imagine we have all been in your position at one time or another.
All I can tell you is my Mother has been gone for 10 years.
I miss her tremendously.
My Mother In Law has been gone almost 3 years. I miss her as well.
My brother died in '94; I would love to fight with him at the table again.

If you are willing to risk possible future regret, then don't go.
Otherwise, it is only a few hours of your life.
As far as an excuse, you have plenty of suggestions here if the truth is not an option for you.
