The Ontario Knife Co. RAT I is going for <20 bucks now.

That’s the best deal on a folder I know of.

I bought one and it’s fantastic. In my opinion it would still be a good deal even at $30.

Thanks for the tip.

I have a Kershaw Zing I carry, the little 1730ss 3" blade, love that size. That's akin to the Rat 2 I see. I think I may buy one of those (based on your post here) for my stepson for xmas. If I like it, I'll get one for myself later.

Cool that it's Ontario (even if it's Taiwan made, at least it's not China). Historic company. I have a vintage Air Crew Survival knife of theirs (The "Jet Pilot" knife). I think Marbles made the original design but Ontario made a ton of them for the Air Force in the 60s to the 90s.

EDIT:

Ooooh, sexy, check out this Rat 2 I just found (on that website you linked):

I carry a Kershaw Tone Tanto everyday. It's one of, if not my favorite, assisted pocket knives. Usually I carry two knives, the Kershaw and a Case Trapper.

OP, I was actually about to post a knife on here, so I'm not gonna hijack your thread but my amazon suggestions posted this

Case XX Sod Buster Jr. 00032 Knife https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000Q9F6Z4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_bzl6Db0W7233J

24.99$ I might just pick up another one of these bad boys for either the toolbox or tacklebox. Made in USA, and overall a great utility knife to have around, I keep mine in the truck next to the flashlight, and other various emergency items.

Could be worse.

You could be into multi-tools...

You could have 2 in each car, 4 in a backpack (when not traveling by air) and others in your tool bag...

[kind of off-topic]
How do you keep these sharp and looking nice? If you use them as a daily work item....

You should be able to keep a knife looking decent since you always have a multi-tool handy. A coated blade will always look worse for wear if you use it hard. I have a Lansky turn-box ceramic rod sharpener that works well for touch-up.

Lansky box

Yeah knives... another obsession. Everything from Case and Queen that belonged to my grampa to a custom Benchmade Mini-Grip and quite a few Bucks and some Leathermans. A blue collar knife guy I guess.

I ordered that Rat 2 last night (the bone (fake) handled one). Already shipped in hours directly from the factory in New York. I'll post some pics and impressions when it gets here.

If it's cooler than my Kershaw I'll order two more, and a couple Rat 1's. wink

Anyone looking for a small knife that easily fits in your jeans' 5th pocket, this CRKT Pazoda is quite nice:

I think it was $12 when I got mine.

It seems like recently I've replaced my flashlight hoarding with small folding knives...

I love my Rat 2. Perfect size for EDC. Easy to sharpen as well. Feels more expensive than what it is.
