If you have ever tried to lay a bead of RTV on a transmission or oil pan, water pump, valve cover, rear axle cover, etc. you know how tiring on your hands it can be squeezing the tube just the right amount while trying to hold the tip steady. With this pistol grip dispenser you have much greater control and power from leverage action. Standard 3 oz tube shown, not included. $15 shipped in the USA. Paypal OK.

A soup can filled with hot water will soften it up enough to make squeezing pretty easy

Which messes up the cure time. There is a reason it's called ROOM TEMPERATURE vulcanizing.

RTV cures upon exposure to air. Warming it before application will not negatively affect the cure time.

Heat generally speeds up the cure time of chemicals, but ok.

And I said that heat would not negatively affect the cure time.

It will improve it.

That's the opposite of what you want on something that takes a few minutes to lay out.

He didn't say boil the stuff.

If I can complete a complex assembly on a 110+ degree day, after removing the tube of RTV from a metal locker sitting in the sun, warming it slightly before applying it will do no harm.

Seriously, man.

The issue I have had is keeping it from drying out. Even with the cap secured it seems to only last maybe a week before most of the tube is dried out.

OP, thanks for the photos.
I've never seen a dispenser like that.

What I've always done when using a 'sealant' in a metallic tube is;
roll the tube up as it's used / keep tapping the rolled end with a hammer to keep it tight & compact.

If not, as you would squeeze the tube, the contents have a tendency of moving in the wrong direction.

Pistol grip gives more control and a uniform output as you squeeze the trigger.
