Looking to move to a 50" LED Toshiba tv. (currently have a 40" LCD Toshiba). In looking at the screen refresh rate, it is 60hz. I was under the impression, that 60hz was acceptable, if screen size was 40" or less. This was when i purchased the present TV 10 years ago. Would a person be disappointed with this spec ?

Thanks.

PS - no gaming, just normal old fashioned TV.... sports, sitcoms, etc.

60hz is the refresh rate of the panel. Depending on the source, some movies play as low as 24hz. Check out Rtings.com for your particular TV, as some can be pretty bad when it comes to sports.

Hz doesn't mean squat as the signal you'll get from the source is what matters. Broadcast TV isn't transmitting in 120 Hz.

The motion handling is done by the processor in the TV and there will be a difference between the cheep Best Buy-Amazon Toshiba 50" TV and a higher end TV.

I bought the 50" Toshiba Fire TV for my workshop and the motion handling is definitely not as good as the higher end Sony and LG sets in my home.
