Since the universal average seems to be based around 7200 miles and this was a 9389 miles oci, I'd say these are pretty good results! Especially since there may be some lingering break in materials.

The point was made on a previous post that this engine is "new" so Blackstone Universal Averages have been heavily weighted by new owners with new engines, raising the iron ppm average. Sounds like its about right.

My feeling it's a high strung Turbo so expect near a VHO 4.2L V8 wear rates. This is not a Honda 1.8 NA motor.
The FE, AL # will come down a little bit more and level off at next UOA/OCI i would guess.

I'm aware this is a new engine, and not a Honda or Toyota, but those numbers seem high for a modern engine.

I'd try a 0W-40, or 5W-40 to see if numbers go down. I think a 40-weight is allowed, no?

2010 Kia Soul 2U - 2.0L I-4, auto; 149k miles.
Castrol Edge (black bottle) 5W-30; Fram TG 9688.

2009 Pontiac G5 - 2.2 I-4, auto, 121k miles.
Oil/filter TBD

No sir, just 0w-30. You may be thinking of the 2.9L in the Quadrifoglio which specs a 5w-40.

This is ACEA C2, C3 . 40 grade would likely do nothing here where it counts.

I'd just wait till next UOA and go from there.
Obtaining V8 power from a 4 cylinder give near V8 wear numbers**.

**I have not actually collected this data - but it sounds like a good repeatable quote!
