It’s not a sale, it’s a clearance.

Just cleared the shelf of QSUD 0W20 for $2/qt. Too bad the 5W30 was regular price, or I would have bought a shelf full of that, too!

Several years back I actually tracked what my local store did w the clearance oil..... eventually it was taken to the back on a cart and vanished.

I dunno if they damage it out, RTV, or just send back to the corporate mother ship but at some point they gotta reset the display and it goes away

In this case it was something like Mobil Super 10W-40 and I just could not justify buying any more, so I let it vanish into the abyss

In Auburn, WA, Retells Gas Truck $10/5qt. 1qt bottles are also on clearance for $2 each. This is eligible for Shell’s current rebate of $10/5qt up to $40, making it almost free (you pay tax.)

The pennzoil is, I cleared all of them out along with 0w30.

Has anyone used the rotella 5w20? I saw there was a few left on it. I want to give it a try in the 4Runner.

I snagged 5 more quarts of QS 0W-20. I'm done. I think I'll snatch one of the '$2 Clearance' signs and post it on my stash.

Like many of us, I ignored my protestations of being "done" and went out again today.

One store tried to tell me there was a limit of one each on the clearance oil once I got to the register. When I questioned this the guy seemed to kind of let it go and rang up the $50 worth that I had.

Then, I figured he would fight me on the 10 off 50 coupon and sure enough he told me it would not work on clearance. I insisted that it definitely would, and after doing so several more times he finally went back to find a manager who wandered out and looked at me and said, "Won't work."

I again told the manager that it absolutely will work, all they have to do is scan it and hit subtotal. Seeing that I knew what I was talking about and clearly I was not going to go away the manager said, "Just scan it and if it works fine."

After the coupon DID work the worker then dutifully made a point of tearing up the coupon into tiny shreds (drama much?)

This is the first store where I have experienced any pushback at all. Most stores seem indifferent, and two of them have been overly helpful. One store just 10 miles north LITERALLY had his entire staff helping me earlier in the week, building up boxes, bringing out carts, using stepladders to reach it all and damaging out 2 quarts that appeared to maybe be leaking, just giving them to me.

The helpful stores have been getting glowing reviews from me in the receipt surveys. I'm unsure how much I want to complain about the recent negative experience? I don't want to "ruin it for everybody" but I'm [censored] that they lied to me when they knew full well the coupon would work, and I'm not sure I favor limits placed on clearance, this feels like the "everyone gets a participation award" ideology our society now fosters. Life isn't necessarily fair.
