Just thought some of you would find this interesting. My oil is still very clear on my Kubota diesal engine. 33 hours after the 50 hour oil change. The engine is a 3 cylinder common rail diesal.35 horsepower with 88 ftlbs of torque at 1600 rpm. Really surprised as most diesal oil I have seen is black with only a few hours on it. Using Mobil Delvac Extreme 10w30 synthetic.

cool, i have a L3400 and have been using Rotella T6 5w40. it took a while for it to start looking totally black. i put about 40 +,- hrs on it this past year and recently changed over to Rotella T6 15w40 syn. so you're liking the 10w30 Mobil Delvac Extreme?

Same, on my 3-cyl diesel (both) Ford 3000 and Ford 4600 tractors.

There seems to be a correlation between direct injected diesels staying clean,
and indirect injected (like the 6.2 Chevy and the 6.9 and 7.3 International/Fords) getting as black as sin.

Not sure why that is.

Same here in our Perkins (5000hr) and Deutz (4khr, 5lhr, 7.5khr 10khr engines, with 200hr OCI. But black as sin in our 9000hr John Deere equiped forklift by 10hr use and doing 200hr OCI.

Oil filter should be an HH164-32430...

You can use a Wix 51515 or equivalent instead, nearly twice the length...

^The Kubota Filter is way thicker, and looks very well made. I'll just keep using the OEM at $10-12 a piece.

I've got a John Deere 5210 (2.9L 3cyl naturally aspirated)
3100 hours
Rotella T5 5w-40 is still very clear at 100hr (annual) oil changes. Wix and JD filters.

Also have a 1991 Ford F250 - 7.3 IDI
150k miles
Rotella T4 is black as coal 5 mins after an oil change.

Take a look at Rock Auto...

Champion COS7328 filters, $1.33 each..

Should be exact match to Kubota HH164-32430...

https://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/champion+filter,COS7328,oil+filter,5340

Watch the shipping costs, however...

COS8a is $1.32...

My Kubota L4630 keeps oil very clean. Using XG8 filter. No egr, def, etc. Should hit 3000 hrs in the next month or so.

"33 hours after a 50 hour oil change" so this tractor is new and only has 83 total hours and your surprised the oil is clean??

With that low of hours I'd certainly hope it stays clean for awhile! My 05 F350 with the most hated engine in the world stays clean for 3000-4000 miles before the oil starts darkening up.

I ordered some just because you made it too easy and the price was impossible to ignore. Will keep you posted.

It’s because the exhaust smells like bleach. I’m not surprised. laugh

On a side note, where are you getting that full synthetic 10w30?
