Brake Fluid Level

I always used to fill the reservoir to the MAX mark. I just got a 2017 VW Jetta and in the owners manual it states the
fluid level should be between MIN and MAX level. I am confused please help. Thank you

Don't let it go below min and don't fill it above max.

After you replace the brake pads you make sure it's at the Full mark. The fluid level acts as brake pad wear indicator. When it's low check your pads.

It is my understanding that you don't need to add unless it gets below minimum and if then you have a problem or your brakes are shot. The level of the fluid goes down as your pads wear. It is a good indicator per say. At least the is my understanding and it seems to be what works for me.

YeP. Last week my brake light went on due to low fluid. It was time to replace pads. I did and the level is back up. I am going to flush the brake fluid but keep the level where it is.
