Not burnt at all
Popped in butter and vegetable oil

What you see is the color of butter and bad lighting

Don't take it personal kstanf150. You've gotta have a thick skin to post on this forum. Enjoy your popcorn. Next time cut open a filter.

I've always used a large pot with a lid
Melt about a half stick of butter and 1/4 cup of vegetable oil
The amount of butter and oil will depend on size of pot
When butter stops foaming its hot enough
Pour in enough corn to cover the bottom of the pot cover and let it go
Shake the pot a couple of time over heat to keep the kernels on the bottom

That sounds delicious! I've been trying to be a little healthier, so I use just a couple table spoons of coconut oil in the whirley pop, but I might have to give your method a try. The whirley pop is nice, but it's a definite unitasker, and kind of annoying to clean.

Hot air poppers are much easier.

My family loves homemade popcorn, we make it a few times a month with a air popper and Kernel Season's Movie Theater Butter oil. I like your method and need to give it a try.

So you heat / melt the butter and oil and then add the corn on low heat?

I use the plain / simple vegetable oil my wife buys , to pop corn with . I read coconut oil is very high cholesterol , although it makes the popcorn taste great . It is what theaters use .

I get it popping good and then turn heat to low and then off before it stops popping

O.K. I will be the bad boy here.

Qualifications. I was a process engineer for Bell Laboratories, plus I was a popcorn snack fan.

Dont cook in the butter! You ARE burning the milkfat.

Use A blend of Olive and sunflower - and a fair amount** so all the kernels will have a meniscus.
**Maybe a good TBSP or two.

Use a medium tall pot - NOT TEFLON!

Heat the oil till near smoking

add corn kernals to almost cover the bottom in a single layer

cover with lid tilted to allow steam to escape ( IMPORTANT!)

pop on med heat until poppoing slows.

Remove from heat and completely remove lid

Allow to dry a bit (5min)

Salt to taste

drizzle melted sweet cream butter as desired ( 1/3 cup?!)

Enjoy!
