Where do you shop for refurbished desktops these days? Looking for something with i7 CPU, 16GB RAM, SSD, and Win 10.

Thanks!

Since they're only a few miles away, I shopped their store-- not online. Refurbished office computers--lease returns, got a great deal on a Lenovo Tiny Thinkcentre with a core i5 and a SSD. Very happy experience and I'll do it again. Threw away an installed Win10-- had I had time to order a naked computer to install my Ubuntu Mate, the cost would have been under $150.

If your city offers free electronics recycling, and if the people running it knows their stuff, you can sometimes get a free computer minus the hard drive.

I am doubtful anyone is giving out I7's with 16GB ram and ssd.

If anyone wants an AMD duron PC from 2001 its free just shipping :p

Check ebay for Dell Precision desktop with Xeon which is at the level of i7.
Some comes without HD and you can add your own HD.
Usually under $200.

As Dell corporate customers return leased computers to Dell Financial Services, we select only the highest quality systems and make them available for sale on eBay. Every system sold has to go through a rigorous refurbishment process.

Yep. Over the years I bought 30 laptops and 10 desktops for the kids at our local school from the two places. All were in great shape and much better than the cheaply made consumer products.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by this?

Woot.com Now owned by Amazon and they offer various "refurbished" desktop and laptop machines. I've not looked too closely recently but have purchased in the past (back in the AMD Athlon quad core CPUs) Never an issue. Also have heard of fantastic deal from the Dell outlet store especially when folks cancel their orders after being built and are offered for sale there.

Be Leary of refurbished, many times if you find one on lets say Dells Refurb site you can find a new one from a retailer.

Example this new one is $50 less then Dells refurb with double the memory, 8gb of ram memory and dell refurb only has 4gb. Just an example I know you want 16 megs ...

More or less, anytime you see a refurb make sure to do more then a few internet searches because chances are pretty good you will find a new one from a retailer for the same or less or maybe a couple dollars more or maybe the refurb will be drastically cheaper but that is not the norm.

A couple years back (6 to be exact, so eons in processor generations) I got something in this vein from Dell. It was an XPS 27 AIO with I7-3770S, 16GB, 2TB HDD/32GB mpcie SSD, and obviously the glorious 2540x1440 touchscreen, which at the time, would still run around $800 for just the touchscreen monitor. It was a factory recertified model, and I got it during one of Dell's 30% off Outlet deals, all for $882 delivered to my door. Considering it's used for surfing, paying bills, and my wife's work, it's been perfect.

I'd not hesitate one second if you were in the market and Dell ran one of these sales again. Haven't had one problem in 6 years even though it was a "second".

For $179, this seems like a fairly good deal for an i7 CPU, 8 GB RAM, 128GB SSD. Getting extra RAM wouldn't be all that expensive. Neither would be a second HDD. Alas, it says "Windows 8.1". Is there anything here that would prevent me from upgrading it to Win 10 for free?

WD 500GB SSD are really cheap...

I used to use TigerDirect a lot. I like Newegg too. I haven't bought a laptop or desktop that wasn't "refurbished" in probably 20yrs now.
