Hello. Anybody run across amazingly cheap Amazon deals due to listing errors recently? Like the Motul x-clean 4 5L jugs for ~$50 that showed up not long ago. Just received a set of BMW rotors and pads for $13. Listing already changed to the correct price of $124 but got the parts delivered as advertised.

They aren't pricing errors. Amazon will slowly reduce the price of items that are slow sellers. If even 1 of that item sells, BAM, the price will jump back up to retail. Or, if the item still hasn't sold after a substantial price drop, they'll raise the price back up to retail. It's an interesting pricing algorithm and I've scored a number of deals from it.

Were those rotors and pads EBC by chance? Amazon has had some great deals on EBC rotor/pad packages. Usually for vehicles that, if still owned today, most people wouldn't bother to change the brakes on, and hence the low price due to lack of sales.

Wow they actually honored the price? crzy

Usually Amazon cancels the order, or they will send you one bottle, and give you a refund if you complain.

These were third party sellers fulfilled by Amazon. Not sure if that makes a difference.

The rotor / pad deal mentioned were not EBC. But funny you mention that as a few weeks ago I got a set of EBC green stuff pads for under $20. Reorder price was about $75. Now these were the “old Greenstuff” which are same as current “GreenStuff 2000” which is fine for me.

Yes, the Motul oil I returned as I got one jug for $50 versus the 4 jugs advertised, I also got lesser valued mis-identified products twice. I kept one and left scathingly bad feedback on one. I received a refund and kept the product on another. Seems to be a trend but when ECS tuning and Georgia Pacific start being called scammers on their otherwise perfect feedback then maybe this practice will end. I have decided to not return anything anymore. I now demand a refund or other monetary compensation and keep the product. If the vendor is not amenable to this, I keep the product, eat the cost and leave horrendous feedback. No more post office/FedEx/UPS visits for me.

I say the above in reference to items sold by Amazon themselves, not 3rd party sellers. Getting 3rd party pricing error orders fulfilled can be a can of worms.

On the Motul deal for me, they sent one of 4 jugs. Their resolution was for me to send back for credit. But I used the one jug received so nothing was available to return. This locked up their logic for resolution. But after a week of reminder emails they credited me for the 3/4 of the product not delivered. More hassle than it was worth.

I too received one jug and it also leaked in transit. The seller sent a new jug to replace the leaked one but refused to agree that it was clearly advertised as 4 and that is what I expect. Seller stopped responding. Returned and filed A-Z Claim. Claim approved in my favor, got refund and the replacement jug showed up same day, so free jug of oil. Win for me but not worth the hassle.

Occasionally Amazon will attempt to make an OEM part price competitive with the aftermarket equivalent. I got new window regulators for my truck (Toyota OEM) for the price of the Dorman part because the pricing algorithm probably isn't designed to account for this.

It’s a way to get you to shop and go on the site more often. I got some tool box organizers for $5. Came in a big box next day shipping. Impossible to make a profit on that item but they have something figured out being worth Billions $$.

Recently scored 2 Monroe Gas Magnum shocks that normally would be $85 for $24 on Amazon.
Same with a Blue OX $400+ tow bar they had for IIRC $125 or so.

Why would you use the product in an incorrect order before contacting the seller?

I love me some Amazon 75%+ deals. Deal hunting on Amazon isn't for everyone however.
