Pennzoil Maximum Power 0W30

Pennzoil is about to come out with a full-syn 0w-30 (non-dexos1) SN+ GF5 MS-6395 nobody has heard about yet because its so new:

However, the upcoming Pennzoil is not MS-13340, it is MS-6395, so the Mopar stuff is all there is!
OK, I admit that https://www.ravenol.de/en/products/usage/d/Product/show/p/ravenol-fes-sae-0w-30.html ordered from Blauparts.com is an alternative, but I wonder about Ravenol saying "Practiced and Tested in Aggregates"(???) to MS-13340, so does that mean it is really approved to it? I think FCA requires fleet testing to get MS-13340 officially, so does anybody know whether Ravenol really has MS-13340?

Sorry I missed that - thanks for the info.

I actually can't confirm that the Mopar stuff is SN+.... does anyone else know? So far I am thinking the best oil for the engine is Mobil 1 AFE 0W30. Right grade and meets SN+, which is probably better than MS 13340.

*Pennzoil's newer synthetic x30 oils all tend to be on the lighter side (closer to a 20 weight) ... A good choice in the winter months or if you are on the fence whether or not you should use a x20 or a x30 ... I also believe Pennzoil Platinum synthetic oil in your chosen oil weight will serve you about as well as anything with normal range OCI's .

No its not, strangely. Gena Fishbeck of Pennzoil said its GF6 already (early) though, that is something. The dexos1 GM spec goes farther than MS-13340 does. GF6 does have a good timing chain stretch (wear) test, and of course LSPI like dexos1 does.

Good point: Mopar 0w30 MS-13340 is not SN plus. Another weird fact: No Mopar oil is SN Plus. None.

You are right, M1 AFE 0w-30 is perfect for the 1.3T with the twin dexos1 & ACEA turbocharger deposit tests it passes, since its dexos1 and SN Plus, and is 0w-30 like the Owners Manual wants.. just not MS-13340 due intercompany rivalries and business partnerships (FCA-SOPUS).

But does Jeep (FCA) technically agree, in case of a warranty claim down the road? They would surely cover you for Mopar (their own brand) 0w-30 MS-13340, even though its not actually SN Plus as the Owner's Manual seems to demand. LSPI protection from SN Plus & dexos1 would be nice to have though, and FCA is probably not going to deny a warranty claim(?) if you use the #1 syn oil brand, M1, in their 0w30 desired weight.

M1 AFE 0w-30 is about 1/5 PAO, good enough, and does have great U.S. specs. Ravenol FES is all PAO though, and might qualify as well but is expensive and hard to get.

HTHS is what matters.

You want low KV100 good HTHS.

Many 5w30 have been middle 9's for over a decade.

Funny that I didn't see a HTHS rating in the shell PDS.
But it will surely meet/exceed ILSAC GF6.

Wonder if this is 85%+ Alkane GTL base oil. Just another "clean" paraffin.

I still feel PAO/ POE blend in the higher groups are the better synthetic by far and provide what we want from a synthetic.

Thanks Toto! So Pennzoil does not make an SN+ 0W30 that has the MS13340 spec on it - so really, the Mobil 1 AFE 0W30 is just as approved. I have confidence that regardless of what FCA says that the Mobil 1 will be a good option, right? I plan on keeping this Jeep forever.

M1 AFE 0w30 will work fine, yet doesn't check the MS-13340 box.
What is surprising is that Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 is thinner at zero F and higher temperatures than M1 AFE 0w30.
When Jeep tries to get you to use "0w30", I assume they want better winter flow characteristics, and Platinum 5w30 delivers on that all the way down to zero F.
I can't imagine Jeep denying a warranty claim if you use either oil. One has 13340 and one doesn't, one is 0w30 and one is 5w30, yet I think they know both oils are legit by well known companies.
