I'm in a quandry...my fat [censored] is too big to fit under my leftover '18 dodge journey se and the oil drain plug is 6-8 inches out of reach; budget for ramps will be $50...looking to get myself a set as a 'Christmas present' for myself to use next year for DIY oil changes (dealership includes 2 oil changes during first year of ownership in sales package for new vehicles); what y'all recommend for ramps?

I recommend you make your own from stacked 2x8’s. Cheaper than commercial and stronger. Solid wood ramps don’t collapse.

I think there's really only two options, the Rhino versions available everywhere from Walmart to auto parts stores to Amazon, etc, etc or Harbor Freight has a set.

Ditto. If you make it out of pressure treat you could store outside if space was an issue.

I use 4 layers of 2 x 12 lumber. I feel very safe under the car with this setup.

The newer Rhino ones aren’t made as good as the older ones-I had one of mine chip oneofthe supports. Went to return it, needless to say I kept the old ones... crzy

What is the minimum height you need? I could run the 528e up on a single 2x8 (1 1/2" ) to allow me to slide in my drain pan. Rassen Frassen Camrys require a little more but its all free. I have a small collection of short 2Xs and blocks. I keep for eventualities. grin2

i got the HF ones and they seem to be pretty strong. search online for the 20% off coupon and get them for about $40 . i git these after reading about Rhino ones failing often.

Those look good, but then again, all they had to do is reverse engineer Rhino ramps which is exactly what they did. For that price, I'd just buy the real deal.

$50 limit, I'd go with the Rhino Max Ramps (16k). If you act quickly, you can grab a set shipped to your door from Pepboys on ebay ~$44. Currently showing only 2 available. If you have a b&m PepBoys nearby you can pick them up for $41 and change, 25% off.

I've had the Max ramps for several years now, stored in garage. They been great, still look new. They are a bit wider than the more popular less expensive 12k Rhinos. Alternatively, the latter are currently ~$40 shipped to your door also Pepboys ebay, $37.50 at b&m PB with store pick up. Currently, don't think you'll find either Rhino less expensive elsewhere.
