The stuff that gets on your undercarriage is already all over the road.
 
I think it's a great idea. I get the undercarriage bath at the car wash during the winter. But for the most part I'm getting ripped off. I really don't see that they did anything. My guess is they're not even doing it. Because it would create a mountain of mess somewhere under ground
 
I am considering fabricating something out of PVC sprinkler pipe with a T shaped extension on one end that is about 3 feet wide and has sprinkler heads attached with the appropriate upward spray pattern. It could be attached to a garden hose and just slid under the car and moved about to give a good flush of any road salt or other debris. I'll bet it could be done for under $20.
