Would it be cool to use marine grade 80W-90 synthetic in a tractor transmission? I have some new Amsoil laying around, hate to throw it away. Thanks.

Overkill but if you no longer have an outboard or can use it in your automobile, why not use it.

What are the ratings on the oil ? What are the ratings needed on the tractor?

since we dont know what tractor the answer is a generic "No you wont be ok"

anyone that says its ok cant possibly know one way or the other.

I think most 80w90 lower unit oil is api gl-5.. which certainly isnt right in some tractors.. that use motor oil, hydraulic fluid, atf etc.

Now if your tractor calls for API GL-5 80w90 gear oil its ok.
