Tire recommendations for the Cayman

Those are only the rear, Firestone does not have tire in the correct size for the front.

Because I am in Florida and I DD rain performance is very important.

I think I am between the Conti and the Michelin. I'm not sure I wan to take a chance on the Falken. I am an aggressive driver when I get the chance and can find some empty twisty roads.

The conti EC on my 951 perform well but the car is prone to tram lining. Not sure if that is from the tires or from the car. I for sure would be unhappy if the 981 started tram lining if I chose the EC

To much positive press and reviews for the Michelin tires for me to ignore. So even though I am not a huge fan of their truck tires I am going to go with them on the car. Costco has $150 off right now so I might get discount tire to match. Or maybe take my wheels off at home and have costco do them. I don't trust them lifting the car without supervision as the jack points are very specific.

Michelin's in performance car applications are hard to beat. On my fastest car I am using a bespoke Kumho which was designed specifically for the car. They have fantastic all-around dry grip, the best I've experienced in a street legal tire, but that's it.

Wet grip, cold, longevity? forget it.

Good call on taking just the wheels down to have the tires mounted.

TL;DR
Tires performance for some rain and DD, low noise if possible. No snow, no cold.

Pilot Sport 4 (not 4S).

Yes I am also not a huge fan. Yes its expensive. Yes I have a pair on the front, fortunately

Thats all about it.

If your wallet permits do not buy anything else. They even ride nicely!

Saw this thread and went out for two drives this morning. We have new Pilot's on the Boxster S and the Conti's on the 996. We haven't done any schools since the new tires, but with spirited every day use, the Pilots seem to turn in slightly quicker and are noticeable quieter. However the difference in handling is very small and between two layouts; mid vs. rear engine, so is not a direct comparison. The noise difference is there and seems to resonate at a low speed range, but this is also not excessive.

Completely price independent, go for the Michelin. I say price independent because the small differences in feel aren't necessarily worth the premium. They are both great tires.

I'd stay away from lower tier tires for most use. I used to use them when I was first doing HPDE's in a BMW as 1) I was tearing through tires and 2) I wasn't anywhere good enough for the difference to matter....

Nice fleet sir, enjoy.

Got the Michelin PS4S installed on my rims today. I must say Costco does a terrible job cleaning up the tires/rims. I washed them up a little and put the wheels back on
First drive tomorrow.

One is missed out: Pirelli PZeroNero - labeled "N". Works very good on Spyders in 20"-guise. Serious grip in the wet, does not give up under pressure and withstands even some fast laps on the track (search for "Bilster Berg" to see the track). A bit low on life expectancy perhaps. Most Spyders here come with them from the factory.

It had Pirelli N0 P Zeros on it as OEM. The rear tires were toast at 10k. I am hoping for a bit more longevity

$198 for a Nitto tire and gets good reviews. Hard to beat from Amazon.

Yeah, not even close to Michelin, Continental, Bridgestone or Pirelli, especially stuff like P4S.

Yeah did the Michelin PS4S 255/35/20 and 295/30/20 on our 982 to replace previous Continental Extreme Contact.

Outstanding tires for my situation and rightly highly recommended by many.

And just today received the $100 rebate card from Michelin HQ.

Have you ever driven on Nitto tires ? Or for that matter, Michelin Pilot Sport 4's ... ?

Yeah, didn't think so.

You are full of opinions, but lacking in facts and experience. Over and over and over ...

Yeah, they are not even close.
First figure out ACEA sequences then we will move to this subject.
