Wifes van battery is starting to slow down when cranking the engine. its 3.5 years old so I'm doing some research now.

What I've found so far.

Walmart Everstart 24F ($100) -- valuepower is rediculous cheap (~$50) but don't trust it for the wifes car)

Advanced Auto silver 24F ($120) after 25% off coupon

Sears, Oriellys, Autozone did not have good discounts running now and they want >$150

I'm not a costco/sams member so they are out.

Frankly the cheapest one will still crank over and probably last as long as the others, imo. If you live in the hotter parts of TX then batteries just aren't going last very long anyway.

I've been running the $50 one from Walmart in my CR-V for a year and a half now with no problems. Runs my car, sound system, light bar and CB just fine.

A week ago I left my dome lights (incandescent, not LED!) on all night and the car cranked over the next morning and started just fine. I think it'll do fine for you.

I always get my batteries from Costco which is usually around $80, when I see what advance auto parts and autozone charge for batteries it makes me want to cry.

I think the real savings in the $50 battery is the 1 year warranty. They are probably close to those other batteries with longer warranties. Just cheaper due to the 1 year warranty.

The ones here were made in Saudi Arabia(Or some other similar country). That mat not be all that bad as the JCI ones from Mexico have turned to garbage.

The $ 100 Walmart batteries I have been buying seem to last ~ 4 years in West Texas .

Unless you have a Sam's or Costco membership already, Walmart will have the best price. No one else will come close.

You can try the semi-local, independent parts stores although you often won't know who makes the battery. Depending on the mood of the person, they can give you a great price or they can give you full MSRP. I didn't need the battery at the time but one of them offered me a 24F AGM battery, made by East Penn, for $88 !

Look for a battery made by east penn. Walmart battery serial numbers will start with ep for east penn or jc for johnson controls.

Costco, advance auto with coupon, or walmart $50 battery is what I recommend now.

The $50 walmart battery is great for places that don't get to cold, negative temps, and/or for vehicles that people may not keep 2+ years.

yup

Get the Everstart. It's highly rated and a good battery to run today's minivans. I put one in our Sienna a few years ago.

The WM ValuPower in my wife’s xB is now up to 2 1/2 years old, hasn’t died yet. Nor has it leaked acid all over the front of the unibody & cradle like the $140 AAP Gold she had previously (not a coincidence that I haven’t bought a full price JC one since!).

My 4Runner uses a 24F as well so I'm interested to hear these responses. It has a Toyota branded battery that is 6.5 years old and still working perfectly, but I know its days are numbered.

Sounds like Costco (Interstate) might be the most reliable option.
