Squirrels...

Just go rescue a dog, most animals are unwilling to build their nests or dens in proximity to those of medium to large canines.

Apologies. Think I've posted this before. Had a rental house with a squirrel problem. Wildlife specialist exterminator quoted me a reasonable price for trapping up to four squirrels with a per squirrel charge after. He put candy circus peanuts in a no-kill trap, put several outside on the roof, and took out every squirrel in the neighborhood.

Rats with tails. I've had 2 power outages in the last week from squirrels touching the wire on top of transformers. It was the same transformers. Of course it takes the power co time to respond and search for the problem. 2 fried squirrels.

Candy Circus "peanut" marshmallows are actually more expensive than real peanuts. I use real peanuts in a live trap and catch the industrious athletes to keep them away from the wife's bird seed. Its futile. They reproduce like crazy.

Cool video-it would be better if the squirrel got popped with a .22 right when it made it to the end... VARMINT CONG!! (apologies to Bill Murray in Caddyshack).

when rodents get into a building not only do they chew on wires but they eliminate waste which is very unpleasant as you can imagine. Best to get rid of them

Squirrels can do significant damage to a structure. They (along with rats) are responsible for thousands of building/house fires every year. I keep the trees severely trimmed around my home, as well as the rest of the properties I own.

I think "thousands" is embellishing it just a wee bit. Yes they can chew on wiring but exposed 120vac wiring doesn't just spontaneously auto ignite material. You've got to have the right circumstances for that to happen. Think high current and dry, flammable material (not fibreglass) in proximity. And where a rodent has chewed up the insulation to the copper, they'll likely fry themselves tripping your breaker...so you'd know.

Maybe a handful a year is more like it.

I saw a comic once that said squirrels were rats with better publicity firms.
