thumbsup Same here, occasionally, a rare occasion we'll work as a team to bang out a project on the house. She holds ladders, because she's afraid I'll fall, and then she'll have to do everything herself. lol

I try to time mine in the Spring and Fall. Sometimes I’ll wind up doing one extra one in the Summer depending on whether or not we take a long trip. I try to avoid having to do it in the middle of winter or the hottest parts of Summer. Usually in the neighborhood of 5,000 miles or so.

In my climate, there is no way I will consider extending oil intervals anymore - especially with the dust, sand and fuel quality issues.

Fram Ultra filters, drain and refill with HDEO every 2,500 km (1,565 mi), air filter replacement every 5,000 km (3,000 miles) and an oil filter replacement every 15,000 km (9,375 mi). On the GMC, a drain and refill every 25% off the OLM and both filters replaced whenever the OLM hits 1%.

Initial 500 miles, then 5,000 thereafter. Mobil1 or PP, OEM filters. Mustang #2 hasn't put on 5,000 miles, but its approaching 9 months. I'm starting to get antsy.

Now I know why you are constantly changing your oil. I've been meaning to ask the question. :-)

My girlfriend and I went on a 5400 mile road trip. If I followed a 3k mile OCI, I'd have to change the oil during the trip, LOL. I used Amsoil SS 5W-30 for her oil changes, and had to run slightly over 8k miles on that change interval. The Amsoil Ea oil filter is on its 3rd oil change and I'm going to replace it at the next OCI.

I like 10k miles if the vehicle can handle it. First I drive a lot so I don't want to change oil every month. Second is I don't want to waste money and resources. I have not seen credible evidence that changes at 3k extend the usable life of a vehicle.

*I am now on the 5K mile OCI as between short tripping and GDI engines - TBN at the end of an OCI doesn't tell the whole story I believe (and that goes double for EP synthetics from M1 and Castrol) ... When a synthetic oil reaches 5K to 6K miles with dirt , blow by , used additives , etc.continually circulated - no matter the TBN I think it's a good idea to dump it and stick to 5K to 6K mile OCI's max on vehicles you plan to drive until the wheels fall off . If you only plan to keep a vehicle a few years then go ahead and run synthetic up to 7.5K to 10K miles ... I just think a 5K to 6K OCI with a good oil and filter is the sweet spot for lowest wear / cleanest engine internals (your mileage may vary) .

I did not even wait for 3K miles on some of the OCIs on this car (and I now exclusively use only PAO/POE base stock oils no less!), which YES, is a waste, even given a turbo DI engine which is short tripped often.

This current fill of Ravenol REP 5W-30 I am 'risking' <-(yes, LOL!) on a 5K-6K OCI, since I do not want to drop the aftermarket skid plate to change the oil until AFTER my last worked on rally of the season (ESPR) the third week of this month.

After that it will get some Ravenol DFE 0W-20 (with possibly a liter of the 5W-30 REP thrown in to bring up that HTHSV slightly hide ) in the beginning of November, for the winter OCI. wink
