Kind of getting boring, I've posted one of these 3 years running at my annual oil change. Low kms and nothing to report. Out came Mobil1 0w40 Euro and in went Castrol 0w40 Euro with another Subaru filter. Now that I have used up all my Subaru filters I may try a XG7317 next time. I will send the oil away later this week for Blackstone analysis, this will be the third analysis on this car as well currently at 77441 kms.

Everything works great and has great numbers except uncharacteristically high iron ppm, with no known cause at this time.

I had used approxiamtely 5oz of Hyperlube Zinc replacement with this sample, and I used the remainder of the bottle with the new fill. This at the recommendation of molakule and others.

Fram's Subaru filter is PH9715

Wix is 57712, and they also offer an XP version 57712xP

If you want something longer, Wix has the 57055 (also available in both regular and XP)

Petro Canada Ultra 94.

Sometime in the new year I am planning on having a flex fuel conversion kit installed and hope to run E85 in the summer the Ultra 94 in the winter.

Currently running some Cobb bolt ons with an off the shelf map. The flex fuel kit includes all injectors, pump, rails, sensor, etc. and will require a custom tune. I'm also going to have the shop install an air/oil separator, although it has never shown any noticeable oil usage.

I would look for something 2x the size of that "fuel filter".

Are you space limited with the bottom mount filter and EJ exhaust?

I used to use 3593A and 7317 equivalents, I've since just switched to using the NAPA Gold 7055 on everything Subaru. It fits all of them, is much bigger than the 7712 size, and has a 27# bypass. It also has the finest listed nominal rating of the NAPA Subaru sizes, at 15 microns. When you throw in the fact that it's $3.77 on the Farm & Fleet sale, it's a no-brainer. All of the C&Ps here on the site look perfect to boot.
