Two of my three NAPA stores have the fall Farm & Fleet sale running until 10/19. All NAPA Gold filters are like 40-50% off, along with NAPA oils & Carlyle tools. YMMV, you may have to shop around. They also have the "Buy a $0.99 bag, get 20% off" most everything that fits into the bag, except anything on sale.

I got 2 each of 1348, 1394, 7055 and 4 1372s for $40 total. Not a bad deal.

How does one look up what NAPA filters fit an application? Any cross reference guides out there?

NAPA Filter lookup

Or the other way is to take the Wix number (i.e. 51516) and drop the first digit to get the NAPA Gold equivalent... 1516 in this case.

So is the Gold the best one to get or the Platinum?

Maybe 6 months ago NAPA had a sale on Platinum where most filter were $3 to $4 dollars. Even the $20 one for my diesel pickup.

yes. that was a nice sale. I already had a few Fram Ultras and TG for my vehicles but I picked up a couple of Platinums just because of the price.

Yes, in store only, and not all stores have the sale right now. Two of my three local ones have it, but they are owned by the same group it appears. The third store is regular prices.

The only time I think the sale is "NAPA-wide" is during the spring sale. Some stores may also have a different window of time for the sale. That's why I said YMMV; call your local stores and see if they are running the special.

However, the 20% off deal is month-long, and online.

Rat, Golds have a higher filtration efficiency, but are best used for OLM or around 10k OCIs. The Platinum is synthetic, wire-backed media, but a much lower efficiency (believed to be around 50%@20 microns) and is marketed as an "extended-OCI" filter.

Checked two NAPA's near me and no deals going on. Golds are going for 7.99. Too high in my opinion.
