Partial Drain Helper.xlsx

I'm computer illiterate.

How many drain and fills to exchange 11.3 quarts with 3.2 quart drains?

Much appreciated if you have the time.

1st Drain 28% new fluid
2nd Drain 49% new fluid
3rd Drain 63% new fluid
4th Drain 74% new fluid
5th Drain 81% new fluid
6th Drain 86% new fluid
7th Drain 90% new fluid
8th Drain 93% new fluid

I guess you have to decide how far you wanna go. I'd go 4 drains to get to about 75% new fluid now. I'd then do a drain and fill every 10K for so when
I changed my oil. I'm no expert. This is just my opinion.

Nah, I'll do it for you. PM me if you need other calculations. I'll be glad to help. I have another spreadsheet as well.

Did I ever send you pics of the finished sheet rock job that you advised me on?

Yeap, for most vehicles (based on total capacity and drain amount), once you reach 75% or so, subsequent changes have such minimal "replacement" amounts you have to decide if it's really worth continuing. By that, I mean that once you reach 75%, strongly consider moving to maintenance mode of changing every 15k, 20k, 30k, etc miles vs doing repeated drain-and-fills to "flush" out the system.

Someone could make a Google Sheets version and have it publicly available. Heh, I could.....

Once I do my first change at 30k ..: that does the magnets for break in fuzz, new filter, and roughly 1/3 fluid ... drain plug installed and then use that plug each spring

Gebo,

Thanks! This can be a very helpful tool. It's very kind of you to share it with the rest of us. I've downloaded it and saved it to my computer for future use.

I uploaded my version of this spreadsheet (I've had it for a couple years but it is probably the same) to Google Sheets. Don't want to hijack your thread but for anyone who doesn't have Excel, this would work for those folks. I'll post a link if you're okay with it.

No, but I'd love to see them!
