I spotted a green label Mobil 1 5W30 ESP. Also a 0W40 ESP. Are they new or am I getting senile?

Mobil 1 5W30 silver label
Mobil 1 5W30 EP Gold Label
Mobil 1 5W30 Ann Green Label
And now..
Mobil 1 5W30 ESP? green label

And also a 0w 40 ESP..

Ugh. Not sure which one to use use anymore.

I've seen 0W20 and 0W30 ESP. But never a 5W30 or a 0W40 ESP.

Are you talking about Mobil1 5W30 ESP ACEA C3 with European approvals?
0W40 ESP is new on North American market targeted at new Corvette users.

M1 5W-30 ESP meets mostly European specifications and has a relatively high HTHS viscosity around 3.5 cP. Unlike most Mobil 1 oils, it has some ester base oil in it. There is an older and newer version and both are still being sold. The newer one has 0.8% sulfated ash (more metallic additives) than the older one which has 0.6% sulfated ash. Both meet same or nearly the same specifications.

The Advanced fuel economy 0w20/30 was always green too ...

Yup. That's what had me confused.

It is Dexos 2 oil. Nothing special for 0W40 oil. Actually very disappointing HTHS of 3.53cp.

I don't think there's a Gen designation at all for Dexos2.

Mobil 1 5W-30 EP and normal M1 5W-30 both have an HTHS of (I believe) 3.0.

Mobil 1 5W-30 ESP is a diesel oil and is unsurprisingly, much more robust, with an HTHS of 3.5.
