I was going to remove the drain plug on my Snowblowers Carb Bowl because it leaks and I never use it anyway. Will JB Weld work :?

I have a JD 425 which has a in tank fuel pump and sending unit for the gas gauge. The float arm is only held in place by a metal dimple in the rod and it came loose and dropped off the sending unit. I affixed it with JB Weld, let it dry and put it back in the tank. That was over a year ago and it's still doing fine. I was doing some spring cleanup of the tractor earlier this year and pulled it out to look at it and it was fine. So, go for it.

I had about 20 pinholes on the bottom sump of a 30 year old fuel tank.

I sanded it good, washed well with acetone, and made a "patch" from a 5" x 5" window screen and a layer of JB Weld.

still holding 20 years later!

I used it on leaky BMW tanks. Left a gallon of water in the tank and plugged the regular holes. Then I used a knotted wire wheel in my grinder to take EVERY spec of rust down to bright metal.. Acetone /brake Klean. One tank, I used a 4" taping knife to spread it. Wait over night and roll the tank around looking for wet spots. There was a time when I kept the large size tubes on hand. just 'cuz

I've fixed old plastic gas cans with it, it seems to hold up to gasoline & diesel pretty well. Also had an old '83 Escort 1.6 that had a good sized dollop over a hole in the cylinder head, underneath the valve cover. Not sure why the PO's mechanic put it on there, but it held the whole time I had the car.

Screen sounds good...a patch of fiberglass or carbon fiber even better. Hair dryer heat will make the un cured JB weld viscous enough to penetrate the glass or carbon fiber.

Used on the top of the gas tank in our Jeep Liberty to seal a couple of cracks near the fuel pump that threw a check engine light. Three years later it's still holding. People thought I was crazy when I did it - I did too - but it's still doing good (knock on plastic).

i used it on a Massey Ferguson tank and I chose the putty type that you knead together to mix it. I love that stuff. Made a perfect seal and a wet finger smoothed the repair to a nice finish too.
