No kidding, it's very complicated and there are a lot of things to learn. Fortunately I like technology.

I've seen the center mounted display in Asia on the Vios which might be the same as the Corolla. This was even several years ago and may have been a cost saving move to condense everything in the center. Those cars didn't have the touch screen.

I have the HUD in the Mazda and I like it. It wasn't $4000 for the package that included it though. I'm somewhat surprised they haven't caught on more than they have. All the info I need is in the HUD. I don't look at the instrument panel. The HUD includes blind spot monitoring and navigation as well.

Sorry to hear about the Corolla. At least you were not injured. That's the most important takeaway.

I got the antitheft protection and exterior/interior detailing for free as well because they were already on the car and I refused to pay the $1800 they were asking for them. The 2020 model that just arrived from Japan has added the third back seat with some other nice changes.

Note: These are the Sony Studios (previously MGM Studios) in the background.

With the 2020 model they have changed the oil recommendation to TGMO 0W-16 SN/RC or equivalent. The disclaimer "An oil with a higher viscosity (one with a higher value) may be better suited if the vehicle is operated at high speeds, or under extreme load conditions." is there as for any other Toyota. This car was made in August in Toyota City, Aichi, Japan, and the oil used is likely a Japanese brand -- it says 100% Japanese parts as typical with Toyotas made in Japan. Curiously, despite the viscosity changing from 0W-20 to 0W-16, the combined EPA MPG rating remains the same at 133 MPGe/54 MPG for electricity and gasoline, respectively.

They give two-year free maintenance; so, the first two oil changes will be done at the dealer. They actually made me buy a three-year extension but I will probably cancel it. I have a dislike for cartridge oil filters but very gladly they made a change and it uses the 90915-YZZF2 spin-on oil filter now instead of the cartridge oil filter as in the past. Oil drain plug and gasket are 90341-12012 and 90430-12031, respectively, per http://parts.toyota.com/.

Regarding oil brands I know Mobil 1 AFE 0W-16 is 100% PAO + AN. TGMO 0W-16 sold in US is made by ExxonMobil and it's 100% GTL-based. Mobil Super 0W-16 is also 100% GTL-based. I don't know anything about Castrol 0W-16 but as I said I am not in the market for buying oil until my free-maintenance period ends. Unfortunately I was only about 1000 miles away from doing a UOA on the PAO-and-AN-based Mobil 1 EP 0W-20 on the Corolla but now, that's history. I was getting around 29 - 30 MPG in mixed driving.

I've upgraded from the 2020 Toyota Prius Prime XLE Classic Silver Metallic to a 2021 Toyota Prius Prime Limited Blue Magnetism. It is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.

Trading in the old one practically cost me nothing even after the taxes and fees thanks the federal, state, and local incentives. It is a huge upgrade from the highly stripped-down mid-trim XLE to the fully equipped Limited. I am very happy with the purchase and it feels like a totally different car thanks to all the advance technology that comes with the Limited, which makes it very fun to drive as if operating a plane. In addition to the new Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, which adds road-sign reading, barrier recognition, and automatic lane centering among other features, the Limited adds head-up display, blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, clearance sensors, intelligent parking, fog lights, accent lights, JBL sound system, Homelink mirror, remote A/C, heated steering wheel, and heavy tonneau cover. It will also save me a lot of money during the tax time.

I've never been as content with a car. It is a mountain-size upgrade from the XLE to the Limited, and they seem to have improved the steering in the 2021 models, as it feels sharper and more responsive. I previously had no idea how much a difference the technological add-on features make in how a car feels—I now think they are more important than the drivetrain. Last but not least, I love the Blue Magnetism color, which makes the car so much more personal than the usual four shades of gray and a delight to own!

It reminds me of Island Blue that Subaru introduced on the Impreza a few years ago. It's not for everyone but the people who like it REALLY like it and I am definitely one who likes it.

Oh, yeah, that's a very nice blue, too. It reminds me of my 1985 Corolla LE Light Blue Metallic I used to have.

No, I am not a Castrol fan, even though they are a very big and respectable company. I will go with the free TGMO 0W-16 oil changes at the dealer at the moment and perhaps Mobil 1 0W-16 in the future. The reason why I ended up posting about my two new cars in this thread was that @Direct_Rejection made a comment about my new signature line a few posts above.

I am willing to bet that your car has a nifty feature my car has. The GPS system will actually recognize routes you take frequently and get locked in on the most efficient distribution of energy. ICE. Hybrid Battery. Planetary Transmission.

It turns out that this featured is not turned on by default. I've just turned it on and I will see how it works and if it actually helps improve the mpg.
