Hi

we're diagnosing a pal's new used bike, 2011 Honda CBF600N motorcycle.

It ran great a couple of days (5) after buying, then started acting crazy when upshifting, like ignition cut.

Now, it would start and ran a couple seconds on all cylinders at idle, then starts running on ... 2 (sounds like that), and as soon as you start rolling, no matter what RPMs, it stalls.

Do you think it could likely be ignition coils acting up, or can a sensor (TPS etc.) may be the culprit ?

I unplugged and shorted the side stand switch connector for test purposes but it acts the same.

Thanks bitog !

Maybe SOLVED: the #2 and #3 spark plugs wires were not secured on the plugs. Gone for a test ride, I'll report.

really solved. what a bargain

Good job... give this method a try next time...

To locate spark leaks look at the engine under the cover of darkness...
first spray the engine with water then start... watch for the blue
arch of a miss fire... possible culprits are 1)bad wire 2) broken
spark plug insulator 3) corrosion in the spark plug cap...

To disassemble the spark cap use a screw driver and note any corrosion
at the resistor and spring...

I had a similar problem on my new to me 1985 Honda Magna. I was heading home from Alabama with my girlfriend riding 2 up. I lost 2 cylinders coming in to Dothan I had a heck of a time getting through those hills and traffic lights in Dothan riding 2 up with 2 dead cylinders. I thought for sure it was the fuel system, I tore everything a part 2x trying to figure out what I missed. The bike would start and run great cold, but by about 3rd gear it would feel like it was starving for fuel. It ended up being corroded plug wires on the rear coils.
