2002 GMC/Low Yearly mileage/OCI

2002 GMC/1500/5.3 drive only about 800 to 2000 miles per year mostly short trips under 3 miles with 49K miles. Use dino 10w30 Penzoil. Owner manual recommends yearly oil/filter change without regard to mileage. Have followed since truck was purchased in 2002....Can i extend the change interval or continue with the yearly change schedule.....Opinions thoughts appreciated. TIA

If mine I would change the oil/filter every 2 years with same oil but synthetic. You could probably stick with non-synthetic oil on a 2 year change also.

I'd stick to once a year...gives you a reason to get under the hood to see if a rodent of some kind has taken up residence and chewed the heck out of the wiring....‚

Once a year with the Pennzoil conventional you are using is a good plan.

True. And check spring, shocks, u-joints, leaks, rust, exhaust, etc.
