I've been kicking myself ever since my friend's dad sold his 04 with 9,400 miles on it for 10k. Shortly after selling it, the new owner crashed it. I saw the car on CraigsList, WRECKED, for $ 10,500 LOL.

Anyway, I found an '06 that seems to fit the bill.

Details:

2006 GTO
Black with red interior
55,000 miles
6-speed manual
nicer wheels
1-owner, owned by an older couple

It has some scratches on the driver's quarter, and the hood needs some touching up from rock chips.

They're asking $ 18,000 which seems high. I know these are rare cars but I'm not paying that much. What do you think a good price would be?

It's stock aside from an intake and catback.

I had a 2005 6 speed from 110k-170k replaced the radiator twice due to plastic sides exploding. Next go around Id install a full aluminum radiator ($500). Count on the 2 piece drive shaft carrier bearing needing replacement or switch to a 1 piece. Stock motor-mounts suck. I had my in FL and had to wax it every 2 weeks or that black paint would oxidize quick. Sealed leather, no amount of leather conditioner will help them... Otherwise they are very well build solid machines. Not to sure about price.

It's low miles and probably hasn't been seriously modified, so it may be worth more than average KBB price.

BTW the /A or /6 is transmission.

Not treated here like a Picasso as your seller does above. Also miles matter. Once you hit 100k its lost a ton of money and a hard sell.

Online at the auction site there are 8 cars right now. An 06 with 79k graded 3.5 you can buy for 10,000 and an ungraded 60k car in a dealers inventory LW Automotive in Pa (412) 366-7400 that looks mint for 14500.

Do you know any dealers?

I saw one on Fantom Works recently where they took the engine and I think the trans out of a nice GTO of this era. And put it into a classic car. The body seems so blah even though I want to like the car more.

I actually miss my GTO. After I took care of the usual suspects it was very robust car, built like a sh** brickhouse. Very smooth and quiet perfect for highway it even gives you a rest notification if you've driven over 2 hrs. I did not enjoy owning a black car as a daily driver in South Florida- never Again! Birds loved to bomb it! Silver is my new color.

They are super nice, but those late GM LS V8 cars (4th gen, GTO, SSR) are priced into the stratosphere.

I was thinking about them the other day. Those are the cars that everyone wanted, but no one bought aside from the 4th gen. I was quite surprised that GM was cool enough to offer the SSR with a 6 speed.

They will sit on it on the price for a while.

It would have been built in the same place my Caprice was built.

I would say that it is at best a 15,000 dollar car.

My buddy has one (and '05) that runs mid 11's. It has been a solid car. I helped replace the half shafts as the splines started to deform from all the launching.
He has done small things here and there, but it has lived a hard life and been a solid car.
