Saw this at Canadian Tire today. Has anyone seen a UOA on it? With a 45 "point spread", you would think some folks might think it would be prone to shearing down. But does it. For the Bitog Thickies. Enjoy.

I used the old Syntec version 5W50 in my 300ZX. It was always rare as hen's teeth here. I'v never seen it in the jugs before, only quarts.

Thickies informed me that they like the 50, however they are concerned about high amount of vm!

I'm running this on my M3 at moment, only 6000 KM into this OCI. I know this is out of the 10W-60 that BWM calls for and I took that risk. Maybe it is okay maybe not.

In the interest of science, I will do a Blackstone at the end of this OCI. Stay tune.

I would be very interested to see that UOA especially if you had another UOA of Edge 10W60 from the same car to compare it to.

Back in the day I was a big Castrol Edge 10W60 user, it was called Castrol R back then. I graduated from mineral 20W50 to synthetic 10W60 and I thought it was the ducks nuts (good). Now days I would go for a narrower viscosity spread like M1 15W50.

The real gem is trying to find the 5W50 Supercar for the Ford GT. I put my Motorcraft bulk oil vendor who also is a Castrol vendor to try and get some for my Mustang. Ford won't send it to me because my work isn't a Ford GT servicing dealer.

We have Mobil 1 5W-50 in Europe, meets Porsche A40 among many other specs.
I have a friend who uses it in his Escort RS Turbo which is tuned to around 230Hp, the Turbo glows red hot after a good thrashing, it seems to hold up quite well.

Mobil 1 FS X2 5W-50 is available in the US as well and looks to be a very stout oil.

WorldPac stocks it and a ton of Motorcraft stuff. 110 for 12 pack, lists for 144.

Curiously its only current marque approvals are A40 and MB's older 229.3 for Yanks.
Good enough for the sumps of mine, though.

Amazon has it by the case for $120

They show 10W60 but not 5W50.

You need the cheapest 10W-30 money can buy and that 4.2 will probably still outlive you.

Is there anything slightly off the beaten path with respect to oil that Ford doesn't fumble with lately?

It certainly does, based on all the UOAs I remember seeing.

Personally, I see no point in running this over something like Castrol 0W-40, for example.

Getting unobtainium things is literally the story of my life so I am used to it.
