What’s everyone’s take on break-in/oil changes on a brand new build?

I built more than a few Buick engines back in the day, from nail heads to the 430/455. I would run Gibbs 10w40 break in oil for at least 1K and after an A3/B4 0w40 like Castrol with a small does of zinc additive to bring it up to about 1300 ppm.
The weak point of these engines was always the oil pump. We used these back then and they really help, its a lot cheaper than a whole HIPO cover and pump. This one on ebay is a scarce item and well worth it.
