New Mercury v8?

Just wondering, does anyone have any good or bad info on the new Mercury 300hp v8 outboard? Not the Verado

Just many successful fishing trips on my buddy's big Contender. He has 3 of them and they seem to deliver great performance for him!

Now that they have the lower unit gearing options they work great

Very hard to get new from Merc still after a ton of time.

We've got a client waiting till December for his and we ordered months ago.

Dad was considering twin 150s, now decided single 300 yamaha but recently began looking at mercury. The new design and being a v8 appeals to him. As with any new model there is the possibility of defects etc, just checking since we no nothing about the new mercs.
