Good afternoon folks. A co worker has a Chrysler 300 HEMI and said car died on him 4 times while heading to work Saturday. Used a scanner and code was camshaft position sensor. That's a cheap enough part that if you're DIY-ing I'd just throw a new one in (plus it's in a very convenient location on the passenger's side, front timing cover, top). While the CPS is out, look down the hole and breaker-bar the crank back and forth to see if you can observe any slack in the timing chain (significant crank rotation before the cam begins to rotate). If you see a lot of slack or If the code comes back, it might be time put in a timing chain and tensioner/snubbers. That's been an issue with a lot of the Gen3 Hemis, both the pre-Eagle engines and the Eagles up through 2012, though for different reasons. I hate to jump straight to that since it most likely is just the sensor.. but of course the consequence of letting the timing chain jump is... bad.
