Sometimes when I start the Liberty in the morning the oil pressure light stays on after the other lights go out. I can shut it off and restart immediately and it goes off. No weird noises at all. No rattles or anything - did an oil/filter change to rule a bad ADBV out. Running a Fram TG.

The sensor is covered in oil, it's been leaking from there for a long time. Never see the light any other time (never see it come on while driving).
Likely just a bad sensor? Sitting at 201k.

Very possible, oil pressure sensors fail often on Jeeps. I've replaced several on family/friends' Jeeps, luckily they are cheap ($20-30 online for OEM) and very easy to replace.

+1

My mom had a Buick that the sensor had been leaking, then the light would come on at idle some times. Was worrisome, but after replacement we had no issues after that.

But it's placement made it leak oil on the starter, which I think killed the starter too.

I just replaced an oil pressure switch on my 1995 Escort. It had been leaking for years, and had made quite a mess. One thing that I learned is that this is a common problem on many, possibly most cars.

Just looking at Rock Auto, an oil pressure switch is in bold for every vehicle I maintain!
