I saw a shelf with Mobil1 0w16 on clearance for $3.00 a quart at my local Walmart last week, the shelf was stacked three wide and probably six or seven deep. I was back there again this week and noticed that it looked about the same. I guess that particular oil isn't going over very well around here yet.
I wonder if it's because there aren't quite enough cars calling for that around these parts yet or if it's just "too thin" for those that do have cars that use it? We have a Toyota dealership here and they sell a ton of vehicles, but I would bet a lot of those customers use the dealer service department. Are Toyota's and Honda's the only ones recommending it? I've seen it mentioned here on BITOG before but never really followed the threads. I thought that would be a good buy for someone that had a car that could use it.

Cars that use 0w16 are still under warranty, unless they have a bunch of miles on them. They only started using 0w16 in the US a couple years ago, so they are most likely still getting their oil changed at the dealer like you said. They might even get free oil changes too smile

Thats not really cheap.

5Qt for $15 is easily beat with $22 for 5QT jug and $12 rebate.

well on second thought it is cheap since you can get the rebate on those qts too too making that 5qts just $3.

We have a fairly large Wal-Mart here in Lake Havasu. I checked out the automotive section today, and they have a lot of 0W-20. But no 0W-16 anywhere.

I've had WM reduce the price further...I just tell them I'll buy everything they have. I talked to the manager in the service dept and he worked out a deal for me.
