I have found that even a layer of sand can work wonders for the initial cleanup....

Bleach is pretty ineffective for oil stains, the chromophores that cause the color are protected from the bleach via the hydrocarbon oil. A strong surfactant such as trisodium phosphate is best to encapsulate the oil as much as possible so it can be flushed away. The rest will evaporate over time and the stain will fade.

Dawn takes grease...out of your way!

Alternate days spraying with aerosol brake cleaner and then long soaks with a degreaser and pressure washing.

Why use aerosol brake cleaner instead of regular acetone?

This thread has my interest. I have an oil spill that is like the op's. I want to stain my floor using a solvent H&C stain recommended my demarpaint. I want to clean the oil so there will be no adhesion problems. The oil was spilled several years ago.

What would be the best plan of attack for this. I do plan to use a bit of muriatic acid after i clean the concrete.
