COCO Nut tree

I lost my 60 foot tall Coco nut palm tree due to lighting. I planted it ~20 years ago from a coco nut. I would like to consider leaving a stump about 30 inches from the ground to put a bird bath on. What should I use to seal the palm? Something like roofing tar or whatever might be the best for longevity? Ed

Have lost many palms and did a few things with stumps including a cement bird bath - if the top seals the end grain - they last a good while since they rot inside > outward.
Other than sealing/or covering the top - a soaking of Thompson's Water Seal twice a year
