Hi how is everyone just wanting to know if anyone out there has use this oil the VALVOLINE PROFLEET 10W40 the specifications look decent Has a crazy TBN 15.6 and nice And high viscosity 153 Going to buy it and give it ago and doing a VOA on it
Also noticed that it said not suitable for diesel particulate filter which might mean it has a decent Zinc additive pack
Check out the specs here

Looks robust and suitable for long duration of use.
will be interested to see the VOAs and some UOAs from you.

The act of preventative maintenance, in and of itself, is FAR MORE important than brand/grade/base choices among lubes and filters.
- under maintaining something is akin to abuse/neglect; that can kill equipment by shortening the lifespan
- over maintaining something has never been proven to be anything but a waste of time and money

There is a VOA of a similar product by a Danish guy :
https://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/4046078/Mobil_Delvac_XHP_10W40

It may or may not be very high on Zn and P but sure expect high detergent (and SA) levels.

Also m37charlie's UOA on Delvac 1 SHC 5w-40 in an Unimog can be found in the resp.threads.

Mitch , what is the application?

Looking forward to that VOA it’s a special order product at all the normal auto shops however there’s a truck shop not too far from my house that has it it is a fairly pricey oil At $295 AUD for 20l can also get 5 L but that is special order As far as I can see

Interesting looks like a decent oil as well it’s showing up on the Australian website but a quick google search I can’t find a shop that has it They make a low emissions version which I can find it at lot of shops here

It's a full synthetic with a VI of 153, and KV100 of 13.2 cSt. So it's a light 40-weight, probably with not many VII's. Looks like a robust, long-drain oil.

An extended drain UOA will be very interesting ...not many LD ACEA E4 oil are used in light-duty equipment for whatever reasons. What are the intended operating conditions / OCI ? This was VM engine with timing belt, right?

Yes it is a VM Motori RA 428 DOHC It will be used heavily off road so some highway driving some heavy sand driving and slow 4x4 work And these motors are prone to have big end bearing failure In the manual it recommends a 5w40 But thought I would go a little heavier

...or make a "home brew" ,even heavier. Sad to hear it..I thought the bearing issue was VM 3.0 V6 "specialty".

How do I make a custom blend

What about just running a racing oil as I don’t have any emissions stuff on my car any more and I’m just after the most protection don’t really care how much it cost https://www.penriteoil.com.au/products/10-tenths-racing-10w-40-100-pao-ester

...by mixing oils of different visc. to achieve the desired one.

I've no idea about the use of racing oils but I am curious to see a VOA or UOA after totally off-track use.
